Office Marquee turns your Apple TV into a rotating digital sign for a lobby, office, classroom, or kitchen. It shows:

• A main title you choose
• A time-of-day greeting (Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Evening)
• The current date and time
• A slideshow of images you supply, pulled from any web URL (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or your own website)

Where the settings live

All configuration happens in the system Settings app on the Apple TV, not inside the Office Marquee app itself.

1. From the Home screen, open Settings.
2. Scroll down to Apps → Office Marquee.
3. Make your changes.
4. Important: return to the Office Marquee app for changes to take effect. The app re-reads settings every time it comes to the foreground.

If you just changed a setting and don’t see the change, press the TV/Home button to leave the app, then re-open Office Marquee.

Adding images

The marquee can rotate through up to 50 images. Each image is a single URL pasted into a numbered slot (Image 1 through Image 50). Empty slots are skipped — you don’t have to fill them in order.

What kind of URL works?

Office Marquee needs a direct image URL — a link that, when opened in a web browser, shows the raw image filling the page (not a preview page with sharing buttons, comments, or a download prompt).

Quick test: Paste your URL into Safari on a Mac, iPhone, or iPad. If you see only the image and nothing else, it will work. If you see a preview page, a “Download” button, or a sign-in screen, it will not work — keep reading.

Google Drive

1. Right-click the image in Google Drive and choose Share.
2. Set access to Anyone with the link.
3. Copy the link. It looks like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/view
4. Paste this format into the slot, replacing FILE_ID with the long ID from your link:
   https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=FILE_ID

Dropbox

1. Click Share next to the image and copy the link. It ends in ?dl=0.
2. Change ?dl=0 to ?raw=1.
   Example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/abc123/photo.jpg?raw=1

OneDrive

1. Click Share, set permissions to Anyone with the link can view, and copy.
2. Append &download=1 to the end of the URL.
   (If the URL doesn’t contain a ? yet, use ?download=1 instead.)

Your own website

Just use the direct link to the .jpg, .png, or .heic file — for example:
https://example.com/photos/lobby1.jpg

Image quality & sizing

Images are scaled to fill the available area on screen. For best results:

• Landscape orientation, 16:9 aspect ratio
• 1920×1080 for HD Apple TV, 3840×2160 for 4K Apple TV
• JPEG or PNG, ideally under 5 MB per image
• Smaller images will look soft; much larger images waste bandwidth and load slowly

Slideshow timing

Under Image Duration, choose how long each image stays on screen:

5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minute, 1.5 minutes, or 2 minutes.

The default is 30 seconds. The new duration takes effect the next time you launch the app.

Greetings, messages, and background colors

The marquee shows a different greeting and background color depending on the time of day:

You can change the message and color for each period in Settings.

Outside business hours (midnight – 8:00 AM)

There is no greeting message during this window. The marquee shows the title, date, time, and images on the Default background color you’ve chosen (Teal by default). This is intentional — most installations are powered off overnight, but if yours stays on, this is what you’ll see.

Choosing colors

Each period (and the default) lets you pick from 11 background colors: Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Teal, Indigo, Gray, or Brown.

Remote control

While the marquee is running:

• Right (swipe right on the Siri Remote) — skip to the next image
• Left (swipe left) — go back to the previous image
• Menu / Back / TV button — leave the app

The slideshow continues to rotate automatically; you don’t need to touch the remote.

Troubleshooting

“Add image URLs in Settings…” appears on the screen

None of your URLs are valid, or none are filled in. Open Settings → Apps → Office Marquee and add at least one image URL. A URL is considered valid only if it:

• Begins with http:// or https://
• Contains a real host name (e.g. drive.google.com)
• Has no spaces or line breaks anywhere in it

Tip: copy your URL into Safari first. If it doesn’t load there, it won’t load in the marquee.

One slot doesn’t show, but other images work

That URL is being rejected as invalid, or the host is returning an error. Common causes:

• A stray space at the start or end of the pasted URL
• A Google Drive / Dropbox / OneDrive link that points to a preview page instead of the raw image (see Adding images section)
• The file’s sharing permissions are not set to “Anyone with the link”
• The original file was renamed, moved, or deleted

Images load slowly or flicker

• Reduce file size: keep images under 5 MB
• Use Wi-Fi 5 GHz or wired Ethernet if available
• Check your internet connection on the Apple TV: Settings → Network

The wrong greeting (or color) is showing

The greeting is driven by the Apple TV’s clock. Check the time and time zone under Settings → General → Date and Time on the Apple TV. The time-period boundaries are listed in the Greetings section above.

The clock or date is wrong

The marquee uses the Apple TV’s system clock. Fix it under Settings → General → Date and Time (turn Set Automatically on, or pick the correct time zone manually).

Settings changes don’t take effect

Office Marquee reloads its settings every time it returns to the foreground. After changing settings:

1. Press the TV/Home button on your remote to leave Settings.
2. Open Office Marquee again.

If you’ve been leaving the app running in the background for a long time, fully relaunch it after big changes (multiple image URLs, etc.).

The screen goes to sleep

The marquee prevents the Apple TV’s idle timer from turning off the screen while the app is in the foreground. If your screen still goes dark, the TV itself may be timing out — check your TV’s own sleep / energy-saver settings (HDMI-CEC behavior).

Restore the default settings

To start over, in Settings → Apps → Office Marquee, clear the Main Title and each Image URL field and leave them blank. The next launch will fall back to the built-in defaults. You can also uninstall and reinstall the app from the App Store to reset everything.

Frequently asked questions

How many images can I display?
Up to 50. Empty slots are skipped, so use as many or as few as you like.

Can I use videos?
No — only still images (JPEG, PNG, HEIC).

Does it work without internet?
The Apple TV needs internet to fetch the images. Once an image has loaded, brief connection drops won’t immediately stop the slideshow, but new fetches will fail until the connection returns.

Will it run all day?
Yes. The app keeps the screen awake while it is in the foreground, so it’s designed to run continuously.

Can I use the same setup on more than one Apple TV?
Yes. Install Office Marquee on each Apple TV and configure each one’s settings independently.
