You&#8217;ll see a Welcome window.<\/li>\n  <li>Choose <strong>Try the Demo Project<\/strong> to explore a finished project, or\n  <strong>Create a New Project<\/strong> to start from scratch.<\/li>\n  <li>Build your scene (see below), then turn on a sharing option in the toolbar when you&#8217;re\n  ready to view it:\n    <ul>\n      <li><strong>Share to Headset<\/strong> \u2014 for the Tableau Stage app on Apple Vision Pro.<\/li>\n      <li><strong>Share to Web<\/strong> \u2014 for VR headsets and browsers, via a link or QR code.<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h3>On Apple Vision Pro<\/h3>\n<ol>\n  <li>Install <strong>Tableau Stage<\/strong> from the App Store (it&#8217;s free).<\/li>\n  <li>Open it. When asked, <strong>allow Local Network access<\/strong> \u2014 this is how the app\n  finds your Mac.<\/li>\n  <li>Your Mac appears under <strong>Nearby Macs<\/strong>. Tap it, download the project, and\n  press &#x25b6; to play.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<div class=\"tip\">Prefer not to install an app, or using a non-Apple headset? Use\n<strong>Share to Web<\/strong> instead and open the link in a browser \u2014 see\n<a href=\"#web\">Viewing in a browser or VR headset<\/a>.<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"building\">Building a project (Mac)<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>Add content.<\/strong> Use the <strong>Gallery<\/strong> button for shapes, text, and\nready-made 360\u00b0 backgrounds. Use <strong>Insert<\/strong> (or drag a file from Finder into the\nviewport) to add your own 3D models (USDZ), images, videos, and sounds. Very large models are\nscaled down and placed on the floor automatically.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Arrange it.<\/strong> Drag an object to move it along the floor. Hold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n  <li><kbd>\u21e7 Shift<\/kbd> to raise or lower it,<\/li>\n  <li><kbd>\u2318 Command<\/kbd> to rotate it,<\/li>\n  <li><kbd>\u2325 Option<\/kbd> to resize it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Scroll to zoom; drag empty space to orbit the camera. For exact values, use the inspector on\nthe right \u2014 drag the small <strong>X \/ Y \/ Z<\/strong> labels to slide a number, or type one in.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Add scenes and narration.<\/strong> A project is a sequence of <strong>scenes<\/strong>\n(like pages of a story). Add and reorder them in the left sidebar. Type <strong>narration<\/strong>\nfor each scene; the headset reads it aloud during playback.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Add tap-to-learn hotspots.<\/strong> Select an object and turn on\n<strong>&#8220;Show info when tapped&#8221;<\/strong> in the inspector. Give it a title and text, and\noptionally attach a picture and a sound. When viewed, the object glows, and tapping it reveals\nthe info panel.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Set a 360\u00b0 background.<\/strong> Pick a bundled backdrop from the Gallery, or use the\n<strong>Background<\/strong> button to choose your own equirectangular 360\u00b0 photo or video.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Preview.<\/strong> Press <strong>Preview<\/strong> to play the whole project on your\nMac \u2014 narration included \u2014 before you ever put on the headset. It uses the same rendering as the\nheadset, so what you see is what you get.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Everything is undoable<\/strong> with <kbd>\u2318Z<\/kbd> \u2014 moves, edits, deletes, and\nimports. Experiment freely.<\/p>\n\n<p>Need a refresher inside the app? Choose <strong>Help \u2192 Tableau Spatial Studio Help<\/strong>\n(<kbd>\u2318?<\/kbd>).<\/p>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"playing\">Playing a project (Vision Pro)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n  <li>Under <strong>Nearby Macs<\/strong>, tap your Mac and download a project. It moves to\n  <strong>My Projects<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <li>Press &#x25b6; to start. Your room stays visible around the project unless a scene has a 360\u00b0\n  background \u2014 then use the <strong>Digital Crown<\/strong> to control how immersed you are.<\/li>\n  <li>Use the floating <strong>control card<\/strong> to move between scenes, mute narration, or\n  exit. Pinch its bar to move the card anywhere.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Tap glowing objects<\/strong> to reveal their info panels \u2014 some include a picture\n  or a sound. Tap again to close.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Downloaded projects <strong>update themselves<\/strong> whenever the Mac saves changes \u2014 even\nwhile you&#8217;re playing.<\/p>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"web\">Viewing in a browser or VR headset <span class=\"pill\">New<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>Share to Web<\/strong> serves your project straight from your Mac to any web browser \u2014\nno app to install. It works on phones, tablets, and computers as a flat, drag-to-look view, and\non <strong>WebXR headsets<\/strong> (Meta Quest, Pico, desktop VR) it can go fully immersive with\nan <strong>Enter VR<\/strong> button. It&#8217;s the easiest way to show a project on non-Apple\nhardware or to a whole room quickly.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Share it from the Mac<\/h3>\n<ol>\n  <li>In Tableau Spatial Studio, turn on <strong>Share to Web<\/strong> in the toolbar.<\/li>\n  <li>A <strong>Web Link<\/strong> button (QR-code icon) appears. Click it to show a scannable\n  <strong>QR code<\/strong> and the project&#8217;s <strong>link<\/strong> (e.g.\n  <code>https:\/\/192.168.x.x:8771\/<\/code>). Use <strong>Copy Link<\/strong> to paste it into a\n  message or a headset browser.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h3>Open it on a headset or browser<\/h3>\n<ol>\n  <li>On the same Wi-Fi, scan the QR code or type the link into the browser.<\/li>\n  <li>Press <strong>&#x25b6; Start<\/strong>. Drag to look around; tap glowing objects to learn more.<\/li>\n  <li>On a VR headset, press the green <strong>Enter VR<\/strong> button to become fully immersed.<\/li>\n  <li>Use <strong>&#x25c0; Back<\/strong> \/ <strong>Next &#x25b6;<\/strong> to move between scenes, and the\n  speaker button to mute narration and sound.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<div class=\"note\"><strong>First-time security warning is expected.<\/strong> Immersive VR in a\nbrowser requires a secure (HTTPS) connection, so the Mac serves the link over HTTPS with its own\ncertificate. The first time you open the link, the browser shows a <strong>&#8220;Not Secure&#8221;<\/strong>\nor <strong>&#8220;Your connection isn&#8217;t private&#8221;<\/strong> warning. Tap <strong>Advanced<\/strong>, then\n<strong>Proceed<\/strong> (or <strong>Continue<\/strong>) to open the player. This is normal for a\ndirect connection on your own Wi-Fi \u2014 the link stays on your local network and nothing is sent\nover the internet.<\/div>\n\n<p>The link stays <strong>live<\/strong>: a small dot in the top bar shows the connection to the\nMac (green = up to date, amber = reconnecting), and the view refreshes automatically whenever you\nsave on the Mac \u2014 even mid-project. Any number of people on the network can open the same link\nat once.<\/p>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"classroom\">Classroom Mode<\/h2>\n<p>On the headset, tap the <strong>people icon<\/strong> in the library toolbar. In Classroom\nMode, the headset follows the teacher automatically: whatever their Mac shares \u2014 or edits \u2014\ndownloads and plays on its own. Ideal for a class moving through a project together. Turn it off\nto browse and play on your own again. <strong>Students still need to progress to the next scene on their own.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"troubleshooting\">Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<div class=\"trouble\">\n\n<h3>My Mac doesn&#8217;t appear under &#8220;Nearby Macs&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>This is almost always a network or sharing setting. Check, in order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n  <li><strong>Same Wi-Fi network.<\/strong> Both the Mac and the Vision Pro must be on the\n  <em>same<\/em> network. Guest networks, &#8220;AP isolation,&#8221; and some school\/enterprise networks\n  block device-to-device discovery \u2014 try a normal home network or a personal hotspot to confirm.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Sharing is on.<\/strong> In Tableau Spatial Studio, the <strong>Share to\n  Headset<\/strong> toggle in the toolbar must be on. It&#8217;s off by default.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>A project is open.<\/strong> Sharing advertises the <em>open<\/em> document \u2014 make\n  sure a project is open and shared.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Local Network permission.<\/strong> On the Vision Pro, open <strong>Settings \u2192 Apps\n  \u2192 Tableau Stage \u2192 Local Network<\/strong> and make sure it&#8217;s enabled. If you tapped &#8220;Don&#8217;t\n  Allow&#8221; on first launch, enable it here, then relaunch the app.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Give it a moment.<\/strong> Discovery can take 5\u201315 seconds. Pull to refresh, or\n  reopen the Nearby Macs list.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Firewall.<\/strong> On the Mac, check <strong>System Settings \u2192 Network \u2192\n  Firewall.<\/strong> If it&#8217;s on, allow incoming connections for Tableau Spatial Studio (or turn\n  the firewall off briefly to test).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h3>The browser shows &#8220;Not Secure&#8221; \/ &#8220;Your connection isn&#8217;t private&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>This is <strong>expected<\/strong> for a web share. VR in the browser needs a secure connection,\nso the Mac uses its own certificate. Tap <strong>Advanced \u2192 Proceed (or Continue)<\/strong> to open\nthe player. The connection stays on your local Wi-Fi; nothing goes over the internet. On some\nbrowsers you may need to type <code>thisisunsafe<\/code> on the warning page to continue.<\/p>\n\n<h3>The &#8220;Enter VR&#8221; button doesn&#8217;t appear (or is greyed out)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Use the HTTPS link.<\/strong> VR requires the secure (<code>https:\/\/<\/code>) link.\n  If the popover says &#8220;HTTPS is unavailable, VR mode is disabled,&#8221; browsers can still view the\n  project flat, but not immersively. Reopen the Web Link popover after the Mac is on Wi-Fi.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Use a WebXR headset and browser.<\/strong> Enter VR only shows on headsets that\n  support WebXR (Meta Quest, Pico, desktop VR). Phones, tablets, and laptops get the flat view.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Get past the certificate warning first<\/strong> (see above) \u2014 the button won&#8217;t\n  appear until the page fully loads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>The web link or QR code won&#8217;t open<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Same Wi-Fi.<\/strong> The device opening the link must be on the same network as the\n  Mac. The link uses the Mac&#8217;s local IP address, which only works on that network.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Sharing still on.<\/strong> Confirm <strong>Share to Web<\/strong> is still enabled\n  and the project is open on the Mac.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>No network found.<\/strong> If the popover says &#8220;No network connection found,&#8221; the\n  Mac isn&#8217;t on Wi-Fi\/Ethernet. Join a network, then reopen the popover to get a fresh link.<\/li>\n  <li>If you copied an old link, get a fresh one from the <strong>Web Link<\/strong> button \u2014 the\n  address can change when the Mac rejoins a network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>The download fails or hangs<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li>Keep both apps in the foreground during the transfer.<\/li>\n  <li>Make sure the project is still shared on the Mac (the toggle didn&#8217;t get turned off, and the\n  document is still open).<\/li>\n  <li>Move the devices closer to the Wi-Fi router; very large projects (big videos) take longer.<\/li>\n  <li>Try again \u2014 tap the project row to re-download. Existing downloads show a green checkmark\n  with a &#8220;Download Again&#8221; option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>A model, image, or video shows as a gray box<\/h3>\n<p>The asset file couldn&#8217;t be loaded. In Tableau Spatial Studio, re-import the file, and make\nsure 3D models are <strong>.usdz<\/strong>. If it displays correctly in the Mac editor but not on\nthe headset or in the browser, re-share so the asset transfers again.<\/p>\n\n<h3>I don&#8217;t hear narration<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li>On the control card (headset) or the speaker button (browser), check that narration isn&#8217;t\n  <strong>muted<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <li>Confirm the scene actually has narration text (visible in the inspector on the Mac).<\/li>\n  <li>Check the device isn&#8217;t silenced and the volume is up. In a browser, sound starts only after\n  you press <strong>Start<\/strong> (browsers block autoplay audio).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>A hotspot sound won&#8217;t play<\/h3>\n<p>Make sure a sound file is attached to that hotspot in the inspector, then re-share the project\nso the audio transfers. Tap the object, then use <strong>Play sound<\/strong> in its info panel.<\/p>\n\n<h3>The room disappears \/ everything goes black<\/h3>\n<p>That scene has a <strong>360\u00b0 background<\/strong>, which is meant to surround you. On Apple\nVision Pro, turn the <strong>Digital Crown<\/strong> to dial immersion down and bring your room\nback, or move to a scene without a 360\u00b0 background.<\/p>\n\n<h3>I closed the library window while playing (Vision Pro)<\/h3>\n<p>On the floating control card, tap the <strong>books icon<\/strong> to bring the library window\nback. To leave playback entirely, tap <strong>\u2715<\/strong> on the card, or <strong>Stop\nPlaying<\/strong> in the library.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Live updates aren&#8217;t arriving<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li>On Apple Vision Pro, the headset only auto-updates projects it has <strong>already\n  downloaded<\/strong> (or any project when <strong>Classroom Mode<\/strong> is on). In a browser,\n  the open link updates itself automatically.<\/li>\n  <li>Save on the Mac \u2014 updates are sent shortly after you pause editing.<\/li>\n  <li>If a device was asleep or off the network, updates resume once it&#8217;s back on the same Wi-Fi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>Tableau Spatial Studio won&#8217;t open my project \/ it opens the wrong window<\/h3>\n<ul>\n  <li>If you quit with a project open, macOS reopens that project next launch instead of the\n  Welcome window \u2014 that&#8217;s expected. Close the project window to return to Welcome, or use\n  <strong>File \u2192 New \/ Open<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <li>To reach help any time, use <strong>Help \u2192 Tableau Spatial Studio Help<\/strong>\n  (<kbd>\u2318?<\/kbd>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n\n<h2 id=\"faq\">Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n<dl class=\"faq\">\n  <dt>Do I need an account or subscription?<\/dt>\n  <dd>No. Both apps are free of accounts, sign-ins, and subscriptions. Nothing is sent to a\n  server or the cloud \u2014 projects transfer directly over your local network.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>Do I need a Mac to view a project?<\/dt>\n  <dd>To <em>share<\/em> a project, yes \u2014 a Mac running Tableau Spatial Studio on the same Wi-Fi.\n  In the Tableau Stage app, once a project is downloaded it plays any time without the Mac. A\n  web link works while the Mac is sharing and on the same network.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>What headsets and devices can view a project?<\/dt>\n  <dd>Apple Vision Pro (with the free Tableau Stage app), WebXR headsets like Meta Quest and Pico\n  (via a web link, in VR), and any phone, tablet, or computer browser (flat view).<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>What&#8217;s the difference between &#8220;Share to Headset&#8221; and &#8220;Share to Web&#8221;?<\/dt>\n  <dd><strong>Share to Headset<\/strong> streams to the Tableau Stage app on Apple Vision Pro over\n  the local network. <strong>Share to Web<\/strong> serves a link\/QR code that opens in any\n  browser \u2014 including VR headsets \u2014 with no app install. You can use either or both.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>Why does the web link show a security warning?<\/dt>\n  <dd>Browser VR requires a secure (HTTPS) connection, so the Mac serves the link with its own\n  certificate. Tableau Spatial Studio also includes\n  ready-made shapes and 360\u00b0 backgrounds so you can start with nothing.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>Can several people view the same project at once?<\/dt>\n  <dd>Yes. Any number of headsets or browsers on the network can open a shared project. Turn on\n  <strong>Classroom Mode<\/strong> on Apple Vision Pro to have headsets follow the teacher\n  automatically.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>Is my content private?<\/dt>\n  <dd>Yes. Projects are ordinary files on your Mac and transfer only over your local network to\n  devices you choose to share with. There is no cloud storage and no analytics.<\/dd>\n\n  <dt>Does it work over the internet \/ remotely?<\/dt>\n  <dd>No. Sharing \u2014 both to the app and to the web \u2014 is local-network only, by design.
