It lets you fire actions live, build cue\u2011based shows, trigger them from MIDI, and run synchronized shows across multiple devices.<\/p>\n\n<p>This page covers the most common questions and fixes. Only one controller can pair at a time, and if the remote claims the link first, DSC will not see the droid.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Open DSC and tap Connect<\/strong> (top of the Live Control tab).<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Set the Unit Type <em>before<\/em> connecting:<\/strong>\n    <ul>\n      <li><strong>BB Series<\/strong> \u2014 BB\u20118, BB\u20119E, R2 style &#8220;ball&#8221; droids that use heading\u2011based drive.<\/li>\n      <li><strong>R\/C\/A\u2011TL Series<\/strong> \u2014 R\u2011Series, C\u2011Series, and the A\u2011LT astromech bodies that use individual motor IDs.<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n  <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Set the Volume<\/strong> (0\u201331). Like Unit Type, set this <strong>before<\/strong> connecting. Changing it mid\u2011session may not take effect until you reconnect.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Tap Scan<\/strong> (the radio\u2011waves icon in the upper right of the Connect sheet).<\/li>\n  <li>When your droid appears under <strong>Discovered<\/strong>, tap the <strong>\u203a<\/strong> chevron to connect.<\/li>\n  <li>Wait for the activation chirp \u2014 that&#8217;s the droid confirming it&#8217;s online. The indicator dot at the top of the screen will turn <strong>green<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h2 id=\"connection-indicator\">Connection Indicator \u2014 What the Colors Mean<\/h2>\n\n<p>The colored dot in the connection bar tells you the BLE state at a glance:<\/p>\n\n<table>\n  <thead>\n    <tr>\n      <th>Color<\/th>\n      <th>Meaning<\/th>\n    <\/tr>\n  <\/thead>\n  <tbody>\n    <tr>\n      <td><strong>Gray<\/strong><\/td>\n      <td>Idle \/ Disconnected \u2014 ready to scan.<\/td>\n    <\/tr>\n    <tr>\n      <td><strong>Yellow<\/strong><\/td>\n      <td>Scanning or Connecting \u2014 give it a few seconds.<\/td>\n    <\/tr>\n    <tr>\n      <td><strong>Green<\/strong><\/td>\n      <td>Connected \u2014 you&#8217;re good to go.<\/td>\n    <\/tr>\n    <tr>\n      <td><strong>Red<\/strong><\/td>\n      <td>Bluetooth is off, not authorized for DSC, or the connection failed.<\/td>\n    <\/tr>\n  <\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n<p>Tap <strong>Connect \/ Manage<\/strong> to see the full status text and (if red) the underlying reason.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"connection-problems\">Connection Problems<\/h2>\n\n<h3>&#8220;My droid doesn&#8217;t show up in the scan list&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Turn off the stock remote.<\/strong> This is the #1 cause. The droid will only advertise\/pair with one controller at a time.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Power\u2011cycle the droid.<\/strong> Droids drop the BLE link after a short timeout if nothing pairs. A quick off\/on puts it back in advertising mode.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Make sure Bluetooth is on<\/strong> in iOS Settings, and that DSC has permission to use it (Settings \u2192 Droid Show Controller \u2192 Bluetooth).<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Get closer.<\/strong> BLE range is realistically about 10\u201315 feet through obstacles. Check the <strong>RSSI<\/strong> number on the entry \u2014 values closer to 0 are stronger; below about \u201185 dBm can be flaky.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Battery.<\/strong> A weakly powered droid advertises intermittently. Charge it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;It connects, then drops&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Distance \/ interference from Wi\u2011Fi or other BLE devices is usually the culprit. Move closer and re\u2011try.<\/li>\n  <li>Crowded RF environments (cons, parks, weddings) are notorious. If you can, keep the controller device within line of sight.<\/li>\n  <li>If iOS backgrounds the app for too long, the link can drop. Keep DSC in the foreground during a show.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;Bluetooth not authorized&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>iOS Settings \u2192 <strong>Droid Show Controller<\/strong> \u2192 toggle <strong>Bluetooth<\/strong> on.<\/li>\n  <li>If you don&#8217;t see DSC in Settings, force\u2011quit and relaunch the app \u2014 iOS will re\u2011prompt for the permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;Bluetooth off&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Pull down Control Center and make sure Bluetooth is enabled (not just toggled off in Control Center, which is temporary \u2014 go into Settings \u2192 Bluetooth to fully enable).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;I changed Unit Type \/ Volume but nothing happened&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<p>These two settings are sent during the connection handshake. <strong>Disconnect, change the setting, then reconnect.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"live-control\">Live Control<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Live Control<\/strong> tab is the playground \u2014 every tile fires its action immediately.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Tap<\/strong> a tile to fire the action.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Long\u2011press<\/strong> a tile \u2192 <strong>Add to Cue List<\/strong> to drop it into the current show.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Movement slider<\/strong> sets motor speed for the next move command you send.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Saved Shows<\/strong> strip at the top plays a stored show with one tap. The <strong>Stop<\/strong> button in that section header halts playback.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Sound Library<\/strong> \u2014 pick a bank, tap a numbered track to play it. Long\u2011press a track to add it to the cue list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>Action categories<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Movement<\/strong> \u2014 direct drive. On BB Series, Forward\/Backward use heading\u2011based drive; on R\/C\/A\u2011TL Series, individual motor IDs.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Sounds<\/strong> \u2014 eight named sounds plus the full Sound Library (11 banks, multiple tracks per bank).<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Lights<\/strong> \u2014 head LED control. <em>On \/ Off \/ Flash<\/em> act on all head LEDs.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Head<\/strong> \u2014 R\/C\/A\u2011TL Series head motor commands plus scripted wiggles. The direct head\u2011motor buttons hide automatically when you&#8217;re connected as BB Series (they have no separate head motor).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;The motors don&#8217;t stop!&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>This is by design.<\/strong> Drive commands run until you tell them to stop. For live driving, send a <strong>Stop<\/strong> cue or tap the Stop button after the motion. In a show, put a Stop cue right after any movement cue.<\/p>\n\n<h3>&#8220;I tapped a tile and nothing happened&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Watch the <strong>log strip<\/strong> at the bottom of the screen \u2014 it shows the exact bytes that went out over BLE. Not every droid has every bank loaded \u2014 empty or silent tracks mean the firmware on that unit doesn&#8217;t contain that sample.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"show-builder\">Show Builder<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Show Builder<\/strong> tab is where you arrange a timed sequence of cues.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Tap <strong>+<\/strong> to add a cue, or long\u2011press a tile in Live Control and pick <strong>Add to Cue List<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Drag<\/strong> a row to reorder. <strong>Swipe left<\/strong> to delete.<\/li>\n  <li>Each cue has an editable <strong>label<\/strong>, a <strong>wait\u2011after<\/strong> slider (how long to pause after the cue fires), and \u2014 for <strong>Wait<\/strong> cues \u2014 a duration slider.<\/li>\n  <li>Tap <strong>GO<\/strong> to play. It turns into <strong>STOP<\/strong> while the show is running.<\/li>\n  <li>The currently\u2011firing cue <strong>highlights yellow<\/strong>.<\/li>\n  <li>Use the <strong>File<\/strong> menu (folder icon) to <strong>Open<\/strong>, <strong>Save<\/strong>, <strong>Save As<\/strong>, or start a <strong>New Show<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>&#8220;My show plays too fast \/ cues run on top of each other&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<p>Most cues fire and return instantly \u2014 they don&#8217;t have a built\u2011in duration. Add a <strong>Wait<\/strong> cue (or set a <strong>wait\u2011after<\/strong> value on the preceding cue) to give a sound or movement time to play out before the next cue fires.<\/p>\n\n<h3>&#8220;A movement cue keeps running into the next cue&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<p>Same answer: motors don&#8217;t auto\u2011stop. Add a <strong>Stop<\/strong> cue after the move, with a Wait cue between if you want the motion to play out first.<\/p>\n\n<h3>&#8220;I saved a show but can&#8217;t find it&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n<p>Saved shows live in the app&#8217;s local library, accessible from:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>The <strong>File<\/strong> menu on Show Builder (Open).<\/li>\n  <li>The <strong>Saved Shows<\/strong> strip at the top of Live Control.<\/li>\n  <li>The <strong>Show selection<\/strong> picker on Show Control (for synced playback).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>If you deleted the app, the local library went with it. Back up shows you care about by exporting before reinstalling.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"show-control\">Show Control (MIDI + Synced Playback)<\/h2>\n\n<h3>MIDI Input<\/h3>\n\n<p>DSC accepts <strong>Note On<\/strong> messages from any Core MIDI source \u2014 USB MIDI interfaces, Network (RTP) MIDI, and Bluetooth MIDI.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Toggle <strong>MIDI Input<\/strong> on to start listening.<\/li>\n  <li>Tap <strong>Add Mapping<\/strong> to bind a note to an action. Either drag the slider to the note number, or enable <strong>Learn<\/strong> and play the note from your controller \u2014 DSC will capture it.<\/li>\n  <li>Swipe a mapping left to delete it.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Network MIDI<\/strong> uses Apple&#8217;s built\u2011in RTP\u2011MIDI session. Pair the device from another Mac\/iOS host&#8217;s Audio MIDI Setup \u2192 MIDI Studio \u2192 Network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>&#8220;MIDI isn&#8217;t triggering anything&#8221;<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Make sure <strong>MIDI Input<\/strong> is toggled on.<\/li>\n  <li>Verify the source is actually sending <strong>Note On<\/strong> with velocity &gt; 0 (Note On with velocity 0 is treated as Note Off and ignored).<\/li>\n  <li>Confirm the note number matches the mapping. If unsure, use <strong>Learn<\/strong> mode and play the note to capture it.<\/li>\n  <li>For Bluetooth MIDI, pair the controller through Settings \u2192 Bluetooth first.<\/li>\n  <li>For Network MIDI, both ends have to be on the same network and have to actively connect to one another in the Network MIDI directory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3>Synced Playback<\/h3>\n\n<p>Multiple devices can fire the same show in unison \u2014 useful when you have several droids and want them performing together.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Pick a saved show and a start time on each device controlling a droid.<\/li>\n  <li>Hit <strong>Schedule<\/strong>. The Show Control tab shows a \u2022 badge while a sync is armed.<\/li>\n  <li>Use the <strong>same wall\u2011clock start time<\/strong> on every device. They each independently fire the show at that moment using their device clock.<\/li>\n  <li>Devices stay in sync via their internal clocks (NTP \/ iCloud time). On a good network you should see sub\u2011second accuracy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>&#8220;Devices fire at slightly different times&#8221;<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Make sure every device has automatic time enabled (Settings \u2192 General \u2192 Date &amp; Time \u2192 <strong>Set Automatically<\/strong>).<\/li>\n  <li>Connect every device to the same Wi\u2011Fi network with internet access for at least a few minutes before show time, so iOS can refresh its clock.<\/li>\n  <li>Cellular\u2011only or fully offline devices will drift.<\/li>\n  <li>Tiny offsets (tens of milliseconds) are expected \u2014 BLE itself has variable latency on the droid side.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>&#8220;One droid didn&#8217;t fire&#8221;<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n  <li>Was the controller device still <strong>connected<\/strong> (green dot) at the start time? If it dropped BLE between scheduling and start, the show couldn&#8217;t reach the droid.<\/li>\n  <li>Keep DSC in the foreground on every controller device until the show finishes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"general-tips\">General Tips<\/h2>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Set Unit Type and Volume before connecting.<\/strong> Changes after connect may not apply until reconnect.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Motors run until stopped.<\/strong> Always pair a movement cue with a Stop cue (or stop button).<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Watch the log strip<\/strong> at the bottom of the screen. It shows the exact bytes sent over BLE \u2014 a quick way to confirm a command actually went out.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Save common sequences<\/strong> (Welcome, Goodnight, Idle Loop, etc.) so you can fire them with one tap from the Saved Shows row on the Live tab.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Keep DSC in the foreground<\/strong> during a show. iOS may suspend the app in the background and drop the BLE link.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>One controller per droid at a time.<\/strong> The droid&#8217;s stock remote, another phone running DSC, or the Disney &#8220;Droid Depot&#8221; app will all fight for the same BLE pairing. Power down anything you aren&#8217;t using.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"known-limitations\">Known Limitations<\/h2>\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>One droid per device.<\/strong> DSC pairs with a single droid at a time. To control multiple droids in unison, use multiple iOS devices and Synced Playback.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>Sound bank availability varies by droid.<\/strong> If a track plays silence, that sample isn&#8217;t loaded in your droid&#8217;s firmware \u2014 there&#8217;s nothing the app can do to add it.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>BB Series has no separate head motor.<\/strong> Direct head\u2011motor controls hide automatically when you connect as BB Series.<\/li>\n  <li><strong>iOS background limits.<\/strong> DSC needs to stay foregrounded during shows.
