TableBots Help & Troubleshooting
TableBots brings small animated robots onto your real tables in Apple Vision Pro. The app uses world sensing to find flat surfaces and hand tracking so the robots can react to your fingertip.
Getting Started
- Open TableBots.
- If the robots do not appear automatically, select Release the Robots.
- Look around your space and give TableBots a moment to find a table or other flat horizontal surface.
- Tap a detected table to add a robot.
- Tap a robot to make it celebrate.
- Drag a robot to pick it up and move it.
- Use Add Robot to add another robot.
- Use Clear to remove all robots.
- Use the speed slider to slow down or speed up the robots.
TableBots remembers your robot crew between launches. Choosing Clear removes the saved crew.
Permissions
World Sensing
Required to find tables and flat surfaces.
Hand Tracking
Used so robots can notice and react to your fingertip.
If you denied a permission, open the Vision Pro Settings app, find TableBots, and enable the missing permission. Then quit and reopen TableBots.
Robots Do Not Appear
- Make sure the immersive space is open. The main button should say Put Robots Away when robots are active.
- Close any other app that is currently using an immersive space. visionOS only allows one immersive space at a time.
- Look slowly around the room so Vision Pro can understand the space.
- Use a real table, desk, countertop, or another clear horizontal surface.
- Improve lighting if the room is dark.
- Move shiny, transparent, or highly reflective objects out of the way.
- Restart TableBots.
If TableBots cannot use plane detection, it may show a virtual table instead.
Add Robot Is Disabled
The Add Robot button is only available when the immersive space is open and TableBots has found at least one usable surface.
If the button is disabled, use Release the Robots, then look at a table until the status message says a surface was found.
Tapping the Table Does Nothing
TableBots can only place robots on surfaces it has detected.
- Look directly at the tabletop for a few seconds.
- Move closer to the table.
- Make sure the table is mostly clear.
- Move the TableBots control window so it is not blocking the table.
- Quit and reopen the app if tracking seems stuck.
Robots Are Floating, Misplaced, or Walking Strangely
This usually means spatial tracking changed after TableBots detected the table.
- Keep the table still while using the app.
- Avoid using the app in very dim light.
- Select Put Robots Away, then Release the Robots again.
- Quit and reopen TableBots.
- If needed, clear the robots and add them again.
Robots Are Too Fast or Too Slow
Use the Speed slider in the control panel.
- Move left to slow robots down.
- Move right to speed robots up.
I Cannot Hear Robot Sounds
- Check the Vision Pro volume.
- Make sure system audio is not muted or very low.
- Check whether another app is playing audio.
- Quit and reopen TableBots.
My Robots Changed or Disappeared
TableBots saves your robot crew locally on your device. Robots may reset if you choose Clear, delete and reinstall the app, or remove app data from the device.
Simulator Behavior
When running TableBots in the visionOS Simulator, real table detection is not available. The app uses a virtual table so you can still try the experience.
